You Probably Won’t See Bradford Davis on ‘Deadliest Catch’ Again
Bradford Davis has worn many hats since leaving ‘Deadliest Catch’ behind — but he’s pursuing a longtime dream.
There are more than 300 episodes of Deadliest Catch, but despite the rotating selection of cast members throughout all 13 seasons, viewers are still asking about a key member of the Northwestern crew from Season 1. Bradford Davis made his debut on the reality show in 2005 during the show’s inaugural season, appearing during a single episode. He hasn’t returned to the show since, and it seems he’s left the high-risk fishing days behind. But where is he now?
Bradford Davis was briefly a professor at California State University.
According to some reviews on the Rate My Professor website, Bradford was temporarily a professor at California State University, teaching a class in the Human Communication Studies department.
The class, only labeled HCOM102, seemed to focus on public speaking and presentation. Overall, his reviews as a professor were good, with many of his former students noting that his class was fairly easy to pass, so long as students completed the assignments.
All of the reviews are from 2011, and there aren’t any posted within the last couple of years, suggesting that he was only a professor at the university for a short time. But Bradford has moved onto other dreams since then.
Bradford is now a firefighter in Hawaii.
As shared in Facebook post from his wife, Melanie, it seems that Bradford has left teaching and fishing behind in favor of being a firefighter. According to the post, made in May 2020, Bradford spoke often about one day becoming a firefighter and finally decided to pursue his dream.
“I remember back when we both taught at Calvary, we would pass the [fire station] every day on the way to work and he would smile at me and say, ‘What if I became a firefighter one day?’” the post reads. “I would jokingly reply back, ‘What? We’re [going to] be teachers together forever!’”
He and his wife now live in Honolulu, where Bradford is a firefighter and the pair raise their two children.
Bradford Davis, who joined the crew of the Seabrooke on “Deadliest Catch,” quickly became a familiar face to fans of the show. However, recent developments suggest that viewers may not see him again on future episodes.
Davis, known for his hardworking attitude and dedication, played a significant role on the Seabrooke. His presence added to the dynamic and sometimes tense atmosphere on board, showcasing the harsh realities of crab fishing in the Bering Sea. Despite his contributions, several factors might explain his absence from the show going forward.
One possible reason for Davis’s departure could be the intense and grueling nature of crab fishing. The physical and mental demands of the job can take a toll on even the most seasoned fishermen. It’s not uncommon for crew members to step away from the industry to seek less demanding and safer occupations, or to spend more time with their families.
Additionally, personal reasons may have influenced Davis’s decision. The time away from loved ones and the constant pressure of the job can lead to difficult choices regarding one’s career and personal life. The decision to leave the show and potentially the fishing industry might be in the best interest of his well-being and future endeavors.
Lastly, changes in the show’s production and crew dynamics can also impact cast members’ participation. As “Deadliest Catch” continues to evolve, new crew members join while others move on, leading to shifts in the lineup that viewers become accustomed to.
While fans may miss seeing Bradford Davis on “Deadliest Catch,” it’s important to respect his decision and recognize the challenges that come with such a demanding career. His time on the show highlighted the resilience and determination required to thrive in the crab fishing industry, and his contributions won’t be forgotten by those who followed his journey.
For now, it appears that Bradford Davis has charted a new course, leaving his days on the Seabrooke behind. As the show continues to document the lives of those brave enough to face the Bering Sea, viewers will undoubtedly meet new faces who carry on the legacy of “Deadliest Catch.”
