‘Deadliest Catch’ Crew Member Suffers Serious Injury After Captain Keith’s ‘Terrifying’ Medical Emergency: ‘I Can’t Feel My Legs’

Not long after Captain Keith Colburn of Deadliest Catch suffered what appeared to be a cardiac event on a recent episode, leading his brother to navigate tough waters to get him help, Captain Jake Anderson of the F/V Titan Explorer faced another medical emergency as a crew member named Chino suffered a serious injury on the deck.

In a new clip shared by the official Deadliest Catch social media, Chino appeared to get hit in the head by a crab cage that knocked him to the ground, leading him to cry out in pain and say, “I can’t feel my legs.”

Anderson ordered, “Let’s get him inside,” before directing some crew members as he said, “Real careful, grab him by his arms back here.” Chino ended up having to drag himself inside at one point, with the cameraman helping out.

As a producer helped assess Chino, the injured crew member said that he could feel his legs but couldn’t move them. Soon, someone gently cut off Chino’s shirt and put a neck brace on him to immobilize his head as Anderson went to call the Coast Guard for help.

Deadliest Catch fans shared their worries for Chino after seeing the clip, such as one who wrote, “I need an update. omgosh this can be so bad 😩😭🙏.”

“This is hard to watch!! Does anyone know…Is he okay?” asked another.

But many more called out the crew for how they handled the situation, with one calling it an “epic fail.” They argued that the crew shouldn’t have moved Chino given the chance of a spinal injury, and that his neck should’ve been stabilized before bringing him inside.

“anyone else screaming ‘don’t move him!!’???” said one fan, while similar replies read, “No one is certified in first aid? Why didn’t yall put a collar on immediately?! No backboard? Discovery yall reckless!” and “ALWAYS IMMOBILIZE BEFORE MOVING SOMEONE!!! ”

Another commented, “They need to take a first aid class cause they did EVERYTHING wrong. He’s lucky he’s not paralyzed.”

The show hasn’t shared an update on either Chino or Colburn’s injuries, but Deadliest Catch is back with a new episode on Oct. 8.
