Elliott Neese released from prison

Elliott Neese was released from prison in May 2024 and has returned to the horizon with his boat, the Sea King. He was reportedly sentenced to federal prison for dealing heroin in 2022, as per Distractify.

According to inmate records for FPC Duluth, a minimum security federal prison camp located in Duluth, Minnesota, he was released on May 3, 2024. Elliott is now believed to be dating a woman called Josie Cone.

He left Deadliest Catch nine years ago, passing The Saga reigns to Jeff Folk. More recently, an Instagram post from May 2024 showed Elliott back on the water in Bristol Bay, with a pile of fish beneath his feet.

Captain abandoned ship

Elliott Neese is the former captain of The Saga, which was later captained by Jake Anderson. After Elliott abandoned ship, he tweeted he had entered a 60-day rehab program for drug addiction.

Before leaving the boat, he told cameras, “I almost regret making so much money when I was young. A 16-year-old shouldn’t be making $100K a year, because you have nothing to do but get f***ed up.”

Neese admitted he was introduced to drugs as a teenager, by a group of co-workers who had just returned from crab fishing. He added that it was “game over” from the moment he tried drugs.

Deadliest Catch star bought ship pre-jail

In 2021, Neese bought his new ship but had to finish his prison sentence to get out to sea on it properly. He wrote on Instagram at the time: “Can’t wait to kill a bunch of salmon this summer!”

He’s also promised viewers he’ll keep updating them on his crabbing journey. “I’m gonna take a bunch of videos this summer of salmon fishing and post them myself, start a li’l blog,” Neese added.

Many long-time fans are wishing the best for the captain’s future. Some of them remember season 10, episode 6, when he rescued six people in the sea while working on the fishing boat, Arctic Hunter.
