Andy Hillstrand, one of the captains from “Deadliest Catch,” has amassed significant wealth not only through his work on the show but also through various business ventures. Here are some of the key businesses and activities contributing to his wealth:

  1. Time Bandit Fireworks: Andy, along with his brother Johnathan, owns and operates Time Bandit Fireworks, a company that sells a wide range of fireworks.

  3. Horse Ranch: Andy Hillstrand owns and operates a horse ranch in Indiana, where he trains horses and provides riding lessons. This venture aligns with his passion for horses and adds to his diversified portfolio.

Now that Captain Andy Hillstrand has returned to the Deadliest Catch for Season 19 after nearly 10 years away from the series, fans want to know what his net worth is. What may surprise fans is that he makes most of his money from non-fishing income.

Deadliest Catch Star Captain Andy Hillstrand Life Is Not Always At Sea

Deadliest Catch star Andy Hillstrand is currently a co-captain of the F/V Time Bandit, along with his brother Johnathan. The two fun-loving brothers are on the craziest boat in the Bering Sea. However, Captain Andy is a private man.

The Homer, Alaska native has been married for over 30 years to Sabrina, who he met as a teen. The couple has two grown daughters, Chelsey and Cassandra, who both love horses. Therefore, the family lives in Indiana on a horse farm called Hobby Horse Acres for almost two decades. This is a land-locked state in the Midwest!

As crazy as his life has been crab fishing, it is tranquil at home with their horse business. This may be why Andy decided to step down from fishing and the Discovery show nearly a decade ago. The business-minded brother chose to stay at home and run the Hillstrand family’s other businesses while letting his brother Captain John take over the F/V Time Bandit.

Has this been a profitable decision?

What Is Deadliest Catch Captain Andy Hillstrand’s Net Worth?

How wealthy is this Deadliest Catch star? According to Celebrity Net Worth Captain Andy Hillstrand is worth $1.5 million. That includes the 17-acre ranch, as well as profits from the Time Bandit-brand products that include t-shirts and other sports gear, as well as from the crab boat. At one time the business included fireworks. But, that part of the business appears to be over now.

Deadliest Catch Captains Andy And Johnathan Hillstrand Lost $1.4 Million In Business Lawsuit

Although Captain Andy Hillstrand has worked the deadliest job in the world for over 30 years, it turns out that what cost him the most had nothing to do with crab fishing. It had to do with one of the business products, Time Bandit-brand firecrackers. According to Seattle PI, the costliest part of his work was a lawsuit.

Back in 2013, while Andy was at the helm of the fabled boat, David “Beaver” Zielinski was throwing Time Bandit-brand fireworks at Wild Bill Wichrowski’s boat of the time, the F/V Cape Caution. However, a catastrophic failure happened. The fireworks exploded in the launcher, shattering Beaver’s right hand, as well as his forearm. His fishing career was over.

What was odd about this case is that Discovery allegedly filmed all of this happening, but the footage was lost when it came time to submit it to the court. After several surgeries, Beaver sued the brothers. Just a few years ago, the injured deckhand was awarded $1.4 million.

Thankfully, both brothers can recoup some of that loss by crab fishing and getting a Discovery paycheck for once again starring in the Deadliest Catch.

Who Owns The F/V Time Bandit?

Everyone who watches the Deadliest Catch knows the F/V Time Bandit. This is the Hillstrand family’s crab fishing boat built by their father. Papa Hillstrand called it the Time Bandit because it “steals time.” However, Captain Andy and Captain Johnathan currently own this crab fishing boat.

Moreover, in 2019, they tried to sell the boat for $2.88 million through Dock Street Boaters. But, the Hillstrand brothers did not sell the boat. Instead, Captain Johnathan returned to the Discovery show a few years ago, to fish the fabled boat. Now, Andy is co-captaining with his brother, living out their family’s fishing legacy.

Deadliest Catch fans, do you think Captain Andy Hillstrand’s net worth is enough compensation for working the deadliest job in the world?
