Lady Alaska from Deadliest Catch was left ‘dead in the water’ with $500k worth of debt
The Lady Alaska may be a distant memory for some Deadliest Catch fans and many have been curious over the show’s history to know of its whereabouts. With all the Discovery show’s different fishing vessels come a variety of crew members. The Lady Alaska’s captain once had some difficulties to face while at the helm of the boat.
Some Deadliest Catch stars such as Sig Hansen have been on the show since season 1. Sig and his daughter, Mandy Hansen, appear in season 19 on the Northwestern. Another boat still appearing on the show 19 seasons later is the F/V Saga which is now captained by Jake Anderson.
Lady Alaska on Deadliest Catch
The Lady Alaska fishing vessel was first seen on Deadliest Catch during season 1.
At the helm was Captain Peter Liske.
The boat wasn’t seen on the Discovery Channel show again until seasons 16 and 17. During this time, Scott Campbell Jr and Sr were in charge of the ship.
Deadliest Catch stars face debt
The Lady Alaska took to the seas for Deadliest Catch’s Opilio and King Crab seasons.
Despite having a “winning streak” during season 16, skipper Scott Campbell Jr and his father were in $500,000 of debt.
The two were short by half a million dollars for The Lady Alaska’s next installment.
Scott Campbell Sr says on the show: “You don’t make your boat payment, they come and take your boat.”
Lady Alaska now
When The Lady Alaska was on the water in seasons 16 and 17, it faced some difficulties, including ending up “dead in the water,” in one episode.
According to a website called Cruising Earth, the fishing vessel is 31 years old.
The Lady Alaska is currently out of action, but it resides in a port in Kodiak, Alaska.
Scott Campbell Jr hasn’t posted to Instagram in some time, but the last post he shared was one of him spending time with his family in 2020.
