Devastation Strikes: Jake Anderson’s Boat Gone—The Tragic Mystery Behind It
‘Deadliest Catch’ Jake Anderson Lost His Boat, How?
Deadliest Catch fans are a bit confused about Jake Anderson who lost his boat, FV Saga. Spoilers suggested that he works on the MV Northwestern, but it looks like he’ll actually be on the FV Titan Explorer. That’s all thanks to teasers and previews ahead of Season 20 on Discovery Channel. However, some Discovery Channel fans don’t know how he lost the Saga. Read on to find out what might have happened.
Jake Anderson Had Some Bad Luck In The Bering Sea
In Season 3, the keen fisherman arrived ready to make a name for himself in crabbing the dangerous waters. However, success takes time, as does respect from peers. Bad luck arrived when he lost his lifeboat in 2021. Bad weather battered the Saga, but his association with Lenny Herzog seems to have been the worst luck.
In Season 12, of Deadliest Catch, Jake Anderson took over Saga from Lenny, but it seems that he didn’t hold all the rights to it and remained in partnership. In Season 17, the vessel disappeared for a while, and fans feared it had sunk. Well, it returned and now, spoilers for the show revealed that Jake lost it altogether. However, he didn’t lose it at sea.
Deadliest Catch Season 20 – Saga Is Gone, Why?
Ahead of the new season premiere, Discovery Channel fans saw a 20-year special recapping the show. On Reddit, an OP questioned what happened to Saga after the recap. They wrote:
Jake and the Saga…In the 20 year recap special tonight, Jake mentioned losing the Saga because his partner did something squirrelly. The whole discussion was a bit mysterious. Does anyone know what happened?
Dedicated fans who watch Deadliest Catch think they know at least part of it. Jake Anderon’s partner, Lenny Herzog might have run into problems with the IRS. Here are some of their thoughts:
- Supposedly Lenny Herzog had some issues with tax fraud.
- If the government went to enforce the lien, they could seize and sell the whole boat and then just give Jake his share after all the other liens are paid off. More likely, however, is that they were unable to borrow money to keep the boat going because of the lien and either sold it to pay off all the debts or shut down then lost it to the lender.
- He will make it back on the sale of the saga…. maybe… I dunno if because of Lenny’s debt all the money may have to go to the feds…. Jake will be better off IMO he has to be on his own and not tied to anyone…. i.hope he can still fish Lenny’s quota.
- My money is that they had a judgment against him and that shut down the LLC’s ability to borrow money to keep going since he likely would have had to sign a personal guarantee on the LLC’s loan(s). No cash=no ability to buy supplies, fuel, do repairs, pay loans, get insurance, etc.
