Deadliest Catch fans convinced ‘editing error’ shows Clark and Mandy having ‘scripted’ phone call
When Clark and Mandy had a phone call on Deadliest Catch, fans immediately noticed something was off. Viewers are zoning in on what they believe to be a “scripted” scene after seeing Jack’s lock screen.
Deadliest Catch has come under fire for glamorized ‘fake’ scenes for years. The Discovery Channel show is now facing rumors a phone call was set up between deckhands Clark, and partner Mandy, after an error.
Clark receives worrying phone call
Clark answered the phone to his partner, Mandy, on Deadliest Catch’s season 20 episode 6. He immediately sat down and looked at the ground, while Clark and Sig face a loss on The Northwestern.
He asks her, “Are you sure? I mean, I can leave right now… OK. Alright, love you. Talk to you soon.” Clark then pays Captain Sig Hansen a visit in the driver’s seat, telling him “it’s not the best time”.
“She was having some complications with some bleeding going on,” he explained. Sig replied, “Bleeding?!” Clark continued, “She went to a doctor. They told her she’s going to get to see a specialist.”
Captain Sig Hansen was understanding of Clark and daughter Mandy’s scare, and told his son-in-law and deckhand, “If you need to go home, then do it.” But Clark explained, “As of right now, we don’t know yet.”
“I can’t jump to worst case scenario right now,” Clark added. Sig replied, “If that’s the case, let’s just move forward, go out, do what we’re supposed to do, and if anything goes sideways, we’ll get you in.”
Deadliest Catch fans notice error
When Clark was on the phone to Mandy, Deadliest Catch viewers were convinced they saw his lock screen, and were immediately led to think the scene was scripted for the show.
One fan wrote, “Scripted phone calls between Mandy and Clark (not saying the medical issues didn’t happen). Suspicious looking man overboard with added sound effects. Boat not even moving.”
Another penned on a Reddit thread, “Anyone notice when Clark was on the phone with Mandy that there was nobody on the phone with him just a Lock Screen lmao.”
