90 Day Fiance: Benjamin Taylor & Akinyi Obala Live with Friends
Benjamin Taylor did everything he could to get Akinyi Obala’s family to accept their relationship. Despite being unable to pay the dowry, the 90 Day Fiance reality star got their approval to bring her to America so they could wed.
Akinyi recently spoke about the struggles she and Benjamin went through when she first came to America. He didn’t have a place of his own and was living with his friends.
It was hard for her to adjust to her new living arrangements. When she was back in Kenya, she had her own room and space to live in. But, in America, she only had a small room to herself.
However, Akinyi Obala felt welcomed in Benjamin Taylor’s friends’ house. They gave her a roof over her head and a place to sleep at night.
But, the 90 Day Fiance star knew it was time for her and her husband to move out and get their own space. Yet, money was going to be a problem.
Benjamin & Akinyi Struggle to Make Money
Benjamin Taylor did have a full-time job. So, he and Akinyi Obala had money to pay for food and other necessities. But he had a lot of debt, and many bills were unpaid. The money they made while living apart went to paying for the fiancé visa. They didn’t have much savings.
According to Akinyi, Benjamin wasn’t very good at managing his money. So, the 90 Day Fiance pair had to figure out what they could do to fix their situation. They were broke newlyweds who needed to get a place of their own.
One day, Benjamin and Akinyi decided to pack their car and move out of their friends’ house. They didn’t have a home to go to.
But one of their friends heard they needed a place to stay. So, they offered their home while they were out of the country for three months. Yet, the TLC celebs knew it was only a temporary solution.
Benjamin has a full-time job. But he and Akinyi needed to make more money. So, to make extra cash, they delivered packages on the weekend.
They would wake up at 5 am and work for over 12 hours a day. And they would deliver food on days they couldn’t do package deliveries.
90 Day Fiance Couple Moves into Own Home
Akinyi Obala would give up her food for Benjamin Taylor because she knew he needed it since he worked more. At times, all they had was bread and tea for dinner. They were struggling and would cry at night. It was hard for them to see other people succeed.
In two months, the 90 Day Fiance couple was able to pay off all their debts. And the following month, Akinyi and Benjamin were able to save enough money to move into their own apartment. It wasn’t easy for them to get where they are now in life. But they never gave up.
